  Twice I have tried to get help from The Haven for animals dumped near my home. The latest was the most precious little pregnant cat. She had her litter 3 days ago, and most drowned in the recent rain. We brought the two surviving in along with her, but we cannot keep them in our home. The Haven does not answer the phone but suggests you email them. I did before she ever had her kittens and no response. They were not helpful the last time we were trying to save the life of a cat, either. We will now take the cats into Lubbock Animal Services where we will pay $20 per animal and the kittens will be euthanized and maybe...just maybe...this little ragdoll kitty will have a chance at adoption.

  I had a horrible experience with the Haven Animal Care Shelter of Lubbock, TX. I saved a cat from being sent to the pound and went straight to Haven to seek help. They had no more openings, but requested that if I could not find a home for "Bitty", to call them back. After trying several other locations of shelters and not finding Bitty a home, I returned to Haven, reminding them of the situation. A lady told me that she most likely had room for Bitty and that she would call me later in the day. I never received a call and Haven would not answer when we attempted to call them. This morning, I had work and asked my friend if she would mind taking Bitty one last time to Haven. They rejected Bitty and guilted my friend for trying to get rid of the cat even though we were just trying to save her in the first place. My friend was so distraught after being berated by the employee at Haven that she came home crying. We had to set Bitty free and hope she lives a better life than the one that she would have at Haven.
